The interface below brings all the major accounts of London currently on the site into conversation with each other. The lower control box in the top right allows different layers to be toggled on and off; this allows any combination of layers to be compared more straightforwardly. The default basemap here is the original Plan, but you can switch to Faden’s 1819 fourth edition or a modern map using the upper control box in the top right. Information about these different resources can be found on their individual sets of pages, available using the menus above.
NOTE: Loading this map and its many markers will put a strain on all but the fastest connections – allowing sufficient time will often be necessary to allow everything to appear. Images in the markers may display improperly when the marker is first opened. Closing and re-opening the marker will usually resolve this (and, as with any of the site’s markers, full-size images can be opened either by clicking on the image or right-clicking and selecting ‘Open link in new window’).
